Macro Flowers Saturday #16-White regal lily

Welcome to Macro Flowers Saturday!

All lilies are wonderful flowers but the white Regal lily is my favorite one.
Though it looks exotic, white Regal lily is one of the most popular varieties of lily seen in our gardens, in early summer. It is very easy to grow; it prefer well-drained soils and a site in full sun.
Though all parts of lilies, the flower, leaves and pollen and mostly the heady perfume, are toxic, I can't resist not to have a bouquet of white Regal lilies in a vase, at least once in the season.
White lilyThe huge trumpet-shaped white flowers flushed with purple, with yellow center and gold anthers, smell divine.

I got a lily, too, for today's macro shot. Different but very similar.

I'm quite partial to a lilly though I don't grow this one as I think it grows quite tall. Its a beautiful set of photos Maia - such great detail of the inner colours. That yellow on the petals is so strong a colour and its lovely to see the little dusting of pollen there. Better there than on your clothes!

I have lillies growing in pots and each day as I go to pick fresh salad leaves I brush against them - once they are in flower I will have to think about a new route to the veggie area as I'll get covered in pollen.

My submission is on my photoblog. Have a lovely weekend :) Rosie

Your white lilies are gorgeous. Well drained is the story in my yard. I should be able to grow some.

A lovely series of lilies but the second picture kind of made me gasp because it is so beautiful.

You say the perfume is toxic? Really? Maybe to some people, thankfully not me. But do be careful not to get that pollen on your clothes, as it can stain like all getout. Gorgeous shot.

Gorgeous lilies, they are far more intense than the ones in my yard. Your macro are splendid.

I am even later than Bonnie! The day got busier than expected.

They are absolutely gorgeous lilies! I love the colors on the back of the lilies.

(I have just noticed in your comment section about the extra links. I too have asked that, but still receive them, which I won't published of course!)
