Macro Flower Saturdays #17-Hollyhock-Alcea rosea

Welcome to Macro Flowers Saturday!

Many thanks to all of you for your beautiful contributions to this meme.

These lovely pink hollyhock flowers are my contribution for today.
The old-fashioned Hollyhocks (Alcea rosea) are one of the oldest flowers known.
It's a stunning sight to see their beautiful blooms in a summer landscape.
Esteemed as a colorful cottage plant, the hollyhock is a visual delight wherever it is planted, at the front door, the garden gate, backyard garden, along the fence or just by the border of the sidewalk like these ones.

Hollyhock flowers are an irresistible source of inspiration for painters of all times, including myself.

Note: I've came across several technical glitches on Blogger this weekend, like the verification code being accepted after the 5th, 6th attempt, or followers gadget not working. There were other problems too, as you can see in the comments.
This huge empire called the world wide web is ruled by genius, but still human, so please, have a little patience.

My grandmother grew hollyhocks at the side of her house and so I always have them in my garden to remember her by. They are such a lovely old fashioned favourite. I love the pale pink. Such a lovely shade.

I've never grown hollyhocks before and I don't even remember them growing in the garden when I was a child either. Someday I would like to grow these from seed. Your pink ones are beautiful.

My submission is on Centre of interest photoblog.

These are gorgeous flowers and your photos capture each tiny detail with such perfection and grace. Beautiful shots.

I love hollyhocks, especially pink ones.
You blog is now appearing in a language that I'm not conversant with and the translation tool in the sidebar does not offer English as one of the choices. I am able, by hovering the mouse over the text, to get a few words at a time. If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know. That's certainly not unheard of (as you well know!).

Lovely hollyhocks! Love the shade between pink and purple. Your lush pink peonies below are also lovely! They smell heavenly - I wish they would bloom all summer! Wouldn't that be great?

Hi, you have a great blog of flowers and it is my first time to join in here. Am glad to have found this flower meme. Btw, my entry is at Flower Town tab.

Where is the link to the painting?

Your work continues to inspire me. It looks so easy but I know it is not. The peonies below are gorgeous also. I do grow peonies but miss the hollyhocks and need to make some happen for next year.

Oh wow! I love the shade of pink then maroon. Do they belong to the hibiscus family, 'cos they're similar to it.

Hollyhocks are so pretty. I love your first picture of the hollyhock on blue sky background. And your painting is soooo pretty. I wish I could paint like that.

Many thanks to you all for the lovely comments.

Please let me know if anyone experiences the same thing as Kathy, seeing some other language than English, on this blog.

Kathy, I don't know what language do you see; my blog is in English, that's why the translator doesn't offer an English translation.

Thanks, Maia. Just something quirky, I suppose. Yours and one other blog I follow somehow got translated to some unknown language that I couldn't even recognize. I changed it to Spanish with the hopes of reading a bit. Evidently just a technical problem on my end which I was finally able to correct. But why just two blogs? Weird. Now at least I found the link to your painting, which is absolutely gorgeous. You're a very talented woman.

What beautiful flowers - gorgeous photos! Hollyhocks are such lovely flowers!
Love you artwork as well!

(I was having trouble linking - so now there are 2 links! Can you delete one?) Thanks!

This was beautiful, I love the colors in the pictures!!

You asked me to correct my link to Dogwood in the Spotlight but I can't figure out how to do that. My link has disappeared and it won't let me add a new one. I had six comments so I assume some of them came from that link. Your help would be appreciated.

Porch Days, your link is position eleven on the list but still, you can enter as many links as you wish, so I don't understand this part of the problem.
I hope we see the same thing.

This flower looks so much like hibiscus. I didn't see them in my area often, so this was a real treat.

Gorgeous shots, and the colors are just fantastic.
